MyBlackLimo.jpg

Message From The King: This is me King Jorge as I was called since early 1970 at the Whispers show in Oakland back in the day circa 1972. That was my own personal limo, that car was known all over the Bay Area and it probablly is what started the limo war with me and Harry of MCH Transportation down in the city. Harry is winning now but it aint over till the fat lady sings!
I was born with blonde hair in case some are wonder whats that in my hair. It comes from my fathers side. I am proud of my background it has many nationalities on both my mother and fathers side. I just wanna say too I am glad my parents had me. You can't pick your parents but I had two good ones who shaped my life in different ways.
Michael McDonald was on the keyboards that night and gave us an invite. We stayed at Mike's pad all that weekend going to a couple of Whispers shows and their practice, man oh man it was great! I knew even before then I would always do something in music for the rest of my life.
Michael and I grew up in the projects on Eddy St. in San Francisco The City by the Bay. Michael was jamming on the keys from way back. We both started in music as little kids. I was still just singing then and only pecking on the piano while Mike was so far ahead of everyonein the projects. There was a lot of talent in San Francisco at that time and a great place to grow up I had lots no tons of fun, that's why the CD is called going back to San Francisco, not just going to the City By The Bay but back to that time when I was having all this fun. There was so many singing groups and bands that we could have started our own Motown in Frisco! And I tell you all of them were much better than me. I say that because I was never good at doing other people and trying to sound like them I always wanted my own sound that's what made me break away from groups back then and now.

ProjectsonLaguna.jpg

These are the housing projects Jorge and others spent some of their lives in.  These buildings took up a whole square block and they pact a lot of people in. They were made of concrete and never had a serious fire. There were 12 stories 11 living floors and the 12 floor was for washing clothes. Every Tues all over San Francisco there was an alarm drill and on the top on one of the buildings was one of those alarms it was loud but Jorge said they were use to it. The alarms was said to be there because when Pearl Harbor was bombed it was said the attack was supposed to go all the way to San Francisco. Jorge said as a kid they had fire and bomb drills in school where they had to get under the desk for the bomb alarm and go out side in the fire drill the bell had a different sound.

Dubai.jpg

This is the World of Dubai it is one of the places Jorge would like to Iive when not in the Untied States.
This part is shaped like the continents of the world. There is other parts of this country as well like the Palm.
It is a long way from the Western Addition in San Francisco.

What's San Francisco With Out The NINERS, GIANTS and WARRIORS!
This is my childhood homey Phil Smith. Phil and I went to middle school together and lived in the same hood from early childhood. Phil played for the Warriors the only year they took championship thus far. Phil his brothers and all of us talked about making it to the pros and playing pro sports while we were little kids a lot of us had talent and we tested that talent all the time playing against each for schools and sand lot against different neighborhoods. I mean we were playing sports every day we could all year round. When Phil decided he was going to be a basketball player it was fun to watch him grow from a kid to a pro.
The thing is Phil never forgot who he was or where he came from and I appreciate him for doing it that way. My song Success And Fame talks about that those who forget who they are and where they came from, the thing is How Can You Forget Where You Came From? That's part of what made you who you are now.
I remember Phil telling me I need to stick with music as he would see and hear me singing with groups. Now that I look back at it I think Phil was not joking. The Warriors was the San Francisco Warriors at one time, they played at Kezar and the Cow Palace.
The Giants
I remember all of us buying Giant uniforms as kids putting them on and playing baseball in the play yard of the projects on Eddy St. and in the parks.
Some people dont know the Giants have had 3 homes in San Francisco
1-Seal Stadium, 2-Candlestick Park, and now 3- AT&T Park.
Seals Stadium was located on 16th and Potrero St.
Now enough can't be said about Mr. Barry Bonds Home Run King of the San Francisco Giants!
The Niners
We had Niners uniforms as well when we were kids
The Niners use to play at Kezar over on Frederick St. I went to Polytechnic High across the street from Kezar. When I made the varsity football team we played there it felt good because as I said as a kid we would talk about playing in the pros. Those who went to Poly will never forget what happened every Monday, we had to run around the outside of the whole stadium. The boys 3 times the girls onces now that discrimination! Aint It? If you are ever on Frederick St the gyms are still there from Poly. As you face the south on Frederick the boys gym is on the right and the girls on the left. Let me know if you ever see the gyms.
I root for my San Francisco teams win loose or draw no band wagon thing here like some. To me sports is fun and should not be taken seriously as some do in Soccer games where the fans just go crazy. You should be like my home boys at Monterrey Mexico these guys play good strong clean soccer.
I was recently at a game they played in the USA I met with players, coaches and the Vice President of the team, they were very nice to me.
Now adays some even put a lot of pressure on kids to win, win, win, so they forget to let the kids have fun. I was never forced to play sports I did it because I loved to play.
REMEMBER GROWN KIDS IT IS JUST A GAME FOLKS AND THEY ARE JUST KIDS!

Below....Jorge Singing "I've Gotta Be Me he says that is one of my favorites Songs."
I learned that song when I was growing up listening to the mighty
Tempting Temptations! Mr Paul Williams was the lead on that song for the Tempts. Jorge said he knows all about the Temptations as that was the songs we learned to sing harmony with. We would stand on the corner and in then in the gates of the projects for the echo so we could do-wap all day after school and into the night. Jorge continues I never got tired of singing and can still do it all day if I could.I think one day one of my projects for a CD is going to be a tribute to the old Temptations. Like the album Temptations Sing Smokey. I am going to pick out the songs the Tempts made over the years that I liked best I've Gotta Be Me is one for sure that will be on the CD.

JerryWhite.jpg

This is Jerry White I've know Jerry most of my life. We lived in the projects of San Francisco on Eddy Street as kids. Jerry has become very successful in the Major Leagues. He played for more than 17 years and is now a 1st base coach for the Twins. I am very proud of Jerry Like Phil Jerry decided he was going to play a sport and stuck with it. It was a thrill to watch him on TV and at games. Jerry was one of the main factors in getting us to play the game of baseball he didnt just play he knew how it should be played. Jerry reminds me of Barry Bonds in his bat speed he could always hit the ball anywhere and anytime he wanted too. Jerry is a example of a it not being a factor all the time where you live but with hard work and determination a person can reach their goals but, may we never forget the Creator in all we do

kezarstadium.jpg

This is Kezar Stadium it is where the San Francisco 49ers play their football games before moving over to Candlestick Park. Jorge played on the football team for Poly High which was right on across the street on Frederick st. The Warriors played basketball in a gym at the other end of the stadium. Jorge says it was a great time in his life.

Frisco=San Francisco

I have heard some people non natives to San Francisco say that people from San Francisco don't like to use Frisco. That's just not true. This is the way we said San Francisco since I can remember as a kid! To us that was a cool way of saying San Francisco always has been always will be for me. Now you know the rest of the story on that.

It was one of the biggest moments of my life.
I'll never forget when I decided that music was a part of my life.
I dreamed of the time when my work would be on the radio and that too felt great when it happened.
I love the work clothes I wear while working
I still have to get use to the make up you wear from time to time.
Note to self I hate makeup!

Top Row David, Melvin, Otis. Bottom Row Eddie, Paul

I just had to put my boys in here The Tempting Temptations. This is part of my musical start I grew up trying to sound like Paul and David but who can do that?
Nobody! These guys will never again be imitated it is a part of musical history I am proud to have seen. I owe a lot of my present style to the Temptations
The way I approach a song and the way I dress and groom myself is a lot in part to the Temps
So Otis/Temp family members pleeeeeeeease don't sue me for using this picture I just could not have a web site and not include the boys besides I ain't made no money yet anyway!

calvinsimmons.jpg

This is Calvin Simmons. Jorge and Calvin were in the church choir at Jorge's grandmothers church when they both were kids. Jorge was in the choir singing Calvin was not only singing but he was the piano player for the choir and he could'nt be more than 12 at the time. Calvin was very talented. He later became the first black conductor for the Oakland Symphony what an accomplishment. The organ player was a man named Donald Corbin who still lives in San Francisco together they were great! Jorge tried to get together with Donald to play on the CD but it didnt happen Jorge hopes to get local musicians on his next project.

IzoraBarRhodes.jpg

This is Two Tons Of Fun Izora Armstead right and Martha Wash left. In my bioagraphy I mentioned how as a kid I was in two church choirs and I didnt like it cause I wanted to be outside playing. Well the first choir was with Calvin Simmons and the second was in a choir called the Tri State Choir with Izora Armstead I knew her as Izora Bar Rhoads when I was a kid her mother and my grandmother on my mothers side were friends. Now you talking about talent for me to have been around both these talented people was an honor. I didnt realize then but Izora was doing what Aretha Franklin was doing singing in her fathers church choir and playing the piano to sharpen her skills for what was later to come, and man on man was Izora good I mean real good. I am glad to have found the One True Faith later in my life but I am glad I had the contact with her and they both were truely great singers when it came to the piano Izora was one of the best.

victorsphoto2.jpg

This is Victor Willis we went to Polytechnic High School together over near the old Kezar Stadium where the 49ers use to play. Victor was a good singer even back in high school. This is what I was telling you in the bio there was a lot of talent in San Francisco at that time. Victor later became the motorcycle cop for the world famous Village People.

jjondaradio.jpg

My main man JJ on da radio
JJ does a mean oldies show when he's not playing Jorge C Scoot music
JJ played my first demo on the radio back in 1980
Even though it was the worst demo ever made JJ gave it a spin for me anyway.
We laughed about that on a interview later because JJ had played me right before playing Mr Marvin Gaye I told him that he didn't do me a favor doing that so he asked" you knew it was bad when you put it out?" "I said no I didn't think it was bad when I put it out I found out it was bad when it played next to Marvin with all that Motown backing" I deeply appreciate KPOO for helping me to keep my music out there.  I have done other interviews with JJ as well over the years and I always look forward to it every time KPOO let me come in.
Going into KPOO back then was like walking into Motown for me or some other big event becasue my work was going to be on the radio for the first time in my life!. KPOO is truely into helping the people and thats what it is all about help someone when you can, it will always come back to you.
Ckeck the KPOO dj schedule to see when JJ is on DA RADIO or another one of your music genra is playing!

CasinoGaylorBallard1.jpg

This is Casino (Gaylord Ballard) the female is Gwen Ridgeway. Gwen also grew up with Jorge in the Fillmore area they have known each other a long time. Casino and Jorge started singing as kid’s in the projects where there was a echo in the gates as they called them. They were called the gates because at one time it was used as a storage locker under the buildings of the projects. Jorge says Casino, and Lawrence Brown were two of the best 2nd tenors he had every sang with, he say's I mean these guys could sing with any tenor in the R&B game at that time, I tried to make into the business with these two for a long time, however if there was any truth in the Temptation movie about the relationship with David Ruffin and Otis Williams this was that kind of relationship we had. We just didn’t share the same visions of what the music business was about says Jorge. Way back in the 70’s, I wanted to stop singing other people’s music I mean we were great at sounding like other people but I wanted my own sound our own sound for that matter. We were all in a club as we called it back then The Marvalows now they are called gangs but we were not like the kids today and, Jorge said despite the differences I still loved them both deeply like a brother. Casino later was in a group called the Malatics they did some recordings back in the day on wax. Matter of fact for awhile before that there was Jorge, Casino, Lawrence Brown, Michael Page John Glen and that was the first time Jorge said he decide he wanted to be a singer. The other great tenor Jorge said he sang with was a guy by the name of Ray Ragler. Ray was great he could sing any key. I wanted to hook up with Ray again because in my next project I am going to use some background singers but it wasn’t meant to be. Another great 2nd tenor was Wayne Banks Jorge remembers him well Wayne was a very strong singer with a tenor voice that was just great. Jorge mostly sang baritone and background and really enjoyed it and when he was with these guys he could do a high baritone which he liked, it was the same way Paul Williams of the Temptations sang. He says he actually have a hard time now staying at baritone when he went out on his own. However Jorge says the truth be told I was in so many singing groups, I had a great time with all these guys and what I remember most is back then we dressed clean. We all had our specialties and brought a unique talent to a singing group. Jorge says he wanted to mentioned this because Casino and Ray and a few others are no longer with us but he wanted to let the world know how good these guys were because they were a part of his life in music. He goes on to say there are so many musicians, singers and bands who were far better than me Granny Goose And The Soul Chips was one that came to mind at that time Johnny Baker and others but never got to the point of a recording a CD, not to mention writing and singing all your own songs, or a web site and music on the radio yet I did how? I don’t know yet I am glad I did, it is a life long dream come true for me I remember my brother Duane Glenn Coats saying that to me one time in a phone conversation he said it was my dream I was glad someone knew it was my dream and I will never forget where I came from like some do, I will be the same with you now as we were as kids which is the basis for the song Success and Fame. One of the reasons Jorge say's he got to where he wanted to go is that now you don’t need the big record companies any more back in the 70s you couldn’t make it without them. The internet has made a lot of things possible now and it is only the start of something big for the independent artist.

________________________________________________________________________________________________
In order for one to reach a dream or goal it takes a lot of dedication, time and confidence in oneself along with strong faith in the Creator. Today is the best time for the musician, singer, band as we dont need Motown, Capital Records or any of the other past great record companies to make it. I signed on with a few companies who are dedicated to helping the independant to get their work out there. I went after the independant radio stations and got my music out there and in the end my work was heard all over the world just on my efforts and the help of some people who share the dream I have as an independant artist. On CD Baby alone I share the sells work with all the known singers and the unknows trying to make a name for themselves. I am proud to have had my work sold in the same stores and online stores as the Tempations and all the greats I grew up listening too I mean that is a honor. Even now David Ruffin Jr. and others are with me on CD Baby a place for independants to sell their work. There is still a long way to go and many more doors will open. NEVER GIVE UP!

Respectful, submitted

Jorge C. Scott

JorgegettingBaptised.jpg

This is Jorge in 1983 he makes his dedication to God and is baptiezed as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jorge say that since then he has lived a Christian life as best he can. He say's he is not perfect and fall short many times of God's undeserved kindness but he does his best. The love that Witnesses have for each other is something that is dear to his heart. When Jorge get a chance to talk to young ones and the subject of religion comes up he say's he tell's them that living a Christian life is just as cool as living a worldly life. Jorge say's he is just as cool as he has ever been since being baptized it's just now he doesn't knowingly practice sin. Jorge does not smoke, does not use foul language, does not get drunk, and does not sleep with women he is not married too. That is his Bible based beliefs. He lives a devout Christian life as best he can and does not miss the life he lead before that.

Becasue of CD Baby My CD was on the internet with Tower Records.
I did the footwork to get the CD into the Tower Records Stores.
That was one of the high points of my music carrer to have been in the Tower Stores

TheApolloInHarlem.jpg

The world famous Apollo it speaks for itself. I ask Jorge would he go to the Apollo and do the talent shows he said no. I ask why he said he would do the Apollo on a invite but not in the talent shows cause he knows he can't win in those kinds of formats. I ask why is that a lack in confidence? He said it is because other people are far better at singing other peoples music I am the best in the world at singing Jorge C Scott songs so talent shows and American Idol and such is not for me.
